What to Do
Layer two pieces of tissue paper on top of one another. Use the coffee can lid to trace a circle. Cut the circle out.
To make a poppy, put the tip of the pipe cleaner stem through the center of the circle and fold it over a little (about 1/4″). Pinch the bottom of the tissue paper circle and use tape to secure it. Twist the stem while you tape it.
To make a daisy, fold the circle in half. Fold it in half again and then one more time.Technically, you will have folded the circle into eighths (like the picture). Use your scissors to cut around the top of the circle, creating a petal shape. Open the flower. It should look like a daisy. Separate the two layers of tissue paper. Place one flower on top of the other so that the petals alternate. You can add a smaller tissue paper flower in a different color for contrast. Put the tip of the pipe cleaner stem through the center of the flower and fold it over a little (about 1/4″). Pinch the bottom of the tissue paper circle and use tape to secure it. Twist the stem while you tape it.
To make a carnation, fold the circle into eighths like you would for the daisy. Cut the petal shape. Then take the scissors and cut strips into the top of the petal (see picture). Unfold it. Put the tip of the pipe cleaner stem through the center of the flower and fold it over a little (about 1/4″). Pinch the bottom of the tissue paper circle and use tape to secure it.
