Work Wednesday: Getting the book out matters
This is going to be the last Work Wednesday. It won’t be the last Wednesday I post, but I’m discovering that creating two blog posts a week—something I have now tried for 4 weeks—means more blog writing and less writing writing. Which leads to the age old question: How do you, as an independent author, balance marketing and publicity with writing? For example, when do you stop spending time on poster and bookmark design and start writing again?
I have come to the conclusion that for me, my writing career is a marathon, not a sprint. One book is wonderful, but I have so many in me to offer. I have ideas pop into my brain daily. Some ridiculous, some awesome, but all of them there. But ideas stay ideas unless you breathe life into them and make them real. I need to do that. In order to do that, I need time. Since I can’t make time appear from thin air, I have to take it from somewhere. (Really, when your kid is only in preschool for 15 hours a week, the amount of time you can spend on any one thing is greatly diminished.)
So no more kids book reviews, unless the book is awe-inspiring. I may from time to time post on other days, but for now, you can expect me to post every Wednesday.

Meanwhile, I’m off to finish production on my new book, Mommy is a Worrywart. I’ll have a page up about it soon. Next week I may ever do a cover reveal! Then on to writing my next book for the Kid.
